Consell agrees to maintain beach services with previous concessionaires

Today the Consell de Formentera government commission agreed to let the previous awardees continue assuring the island's beachside services pending a solution for tender of seasonal service contracts from 2022 to 2027, when the service will be administered by new awardees.

This decision is supported by the technical services of the Formentera Office of Environment [Conselleria de Medi Ambient, CMAF], the legal services of the municipal government and a report prepared by professor of administrative law at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Dr. Avel-lí Blasco Esteve. Today the island administration will begin the process of signing contracts with the previous administrators to offer the beach services as soon as possible.

The Consell de Formentera would like to raise local awareness about increasing numbers of abandoned cats on the island. In recent weeks, kitten litters as well as other, apparently domesticated adult cats have been found in rubbish containers and ditches. A municipal ordinance prohibits the abandonment of animals and creates fines of €30 to €15,000 for violators of the rule.

For more information, contact the Consell de Formentera veterinary service (tel. 971 32 10 87, ext. 3164 / veterinari@conselldeformentera.cat).
