Activities organised in support of European Mobility Week

dia sense cotxes 01Tomorrow, the Formentera Council's office of transport will host a number of different activities within the framework of European Mobility Week. The events are scheduled to coincide with the end of the week-long initiative, which began nearly one week ago on 16 September.

The goal of the campaign is simple: “To improve the climate in cities and towns; to promote intelligent transportation and healthier living”, in the words of tourism and transport councillor Alejandra Ferrer. The Formentera Council was only too happy to sign on.

Striving to reach these goals, an array of different activities were organised by the Council. On 23 September, in the spirit of achieving a day without cars on the island, tickets for Formentera public bus lines 1 and 2 will be sold at a 50% discount.

Another initiative is tomorrow's expo of electric vehicles at the Plaça de la Constitució of Sant Francesc. Scheduled to take place from 11 am to 1 pm, the activity was organised thanks in large part to the gracious cooperation of Formentera electric car-hire agencies eMobile and Cooltra.

Visitors to the expo will have the opportunity not just to put the two businesses' electric vehicles to the test, but also to educate themselves on the different options for rental and purchase of such transportation alternatives.
