conveni ccomerc 160415This morning, representatives of the Formentera Council sat down with representatives of the Formentera Cambra de Comerç ('Chamber of Commerce') to make official their committment to creating training programmes that will enhance the abilities of local tradesmen, focusing on languages, shop window displays and strategic planning.

Formentera Council president Jaume Ferrer, councillor of transport Alejandra Ferrer and the Formentera-chapter delegate to the Chamber of Commerce of Eivissa-Formentera, Juan Manuel Costa Escanellas, signed and finalised an accord by which the Council will provide €7,000 in funding for training programmes coordinated by the Cambra.

In the words of President Jaume Ferrer: “Continuing a course of action already adopted with local associations like the small and medium-sized business group, this accord will contribute to enhancing the skill level and professionalism of the tradesmen of Formentera”. For his part, Juan Manuel Costa thanked the Council for its collaboration, “so important because it will allow us to extend continuing education opportunities offered to the island's professional segments”.

Alejandra Ferrer affirmed: “The accord represents a continuation of the collaboration which has been happening for some time now with the Cambra de Comerç. Over the previous months such work has taken the form of the shop window display contest at Christmas, the raffle for shoppers at local businesses and the administration's campaign “compra a casa” ('shop at home').
