The Mobility Plan shows an increase of 123% in the number of users

On October 1st starts the winter Mobility Plan that has the novelty of the intercom service.
The Conseller of Tourism and Mobility of the Consell de Formentera, Josep Mayans, announced today at a press conference the number of users of public transport during the summer, as well as developments in the implementation of the Mobility Plan winter which begins next Oct. 1.
From 2007 until today, there has been a considerable improvement in the number of public transport users, only by increasing frequency and structure. In 2007 there was no structured bus lines and passenger count that year was 77,330 users. In 2008 there was an increase of 33.6% amounting to 103,319 passengers, only with these improvements and this year are expected 172,445 users (up to September there have been 156,525 users), representing an increase of 123% in four years, and most importantly, an increase that has taken place gradually over the years.
Doing a calculation for bus lines, and regarding at the last year (until August), the L1 (perimeter Estany des Peix) has increased from 52,305 to 59,241 passengers, L2 (Mola) is around 40 000 passengers and L3 (Puerto La Savina - playa de ses Illetes) has dropped from 27,569 in 2007 to 20,145 this year. This decrease is due to the government team's priority is fostering the movement of tourists across the island and not just in the Natural Park, so a credit was introduced for a day that did a circuit around the island and that since the implementation has grown from 369 users with last year 3,110 people using this year.
The novelty of last year was the creation of the L5 direction to Cala Saona (hitherto neglected), with a number of specific shipments and a major communications campaign, which resulted in an increase of 20%.
Throughout this year is when it really has been that public transport in Formentera is becoming a reality, and from the area of mobility has made a definitive commitment to the creation of two new lines (L7 and L6) and increasing the number of shipments.
It also has been a renewal of all shelters has created an image of public transport under the slogan Formentera, Public Transport naturally. The result is a great success in number of users, not only tourists but also many people in Formentera, an increase of 39% again.

On demand service for retirees and News for the Winter Mobility Plan
To provide a service to retirees and pensioners of Formentera, the area of mobility of Formentera created in 2008 a service on demand for areas without public transport. This initiative has been widely accepted and provides a social service to all retired persons living in Portossalè, Camí Vell de la Mola, Cala en Baster and Cap de Barbaria, who has a number of monthly trips to go to Sant Francesc, the hospital, the port and the pensioners' club.
For winter service will be replaced by intercom, where retirees and pensioners of Formentera may request the service on demand to return to home.
Also during the month of October, intercoms will be installed in all urban centers in order to avoid economic and ecological waste flowing virtually empty bus. The service of L1 will have a fixed and a demand expeditions which will be made with prior request from the service.
Also, for the first time in winter, the L2 enter the town of Es Ca Marí, with service schedules listed in but that will only be made if a prior request from the service to avoid unnecessary expeditions. This line increases the number of expeditions from Pilar de la Mola from 6 to 9 trips.
