Professional accreditation for customer service workers in German and English

Eva Vidal 301014This morning, the offices responsible for employment and training programmes of the Formentera Council delivered certificates of recognition to students who had successfully completed the 'Customer Service in English' and 'Customer Service in German' courses.

The training courses were financed by the Council, the job resource centre in the Balearics (SOIB) and the European Social Fund. Potential employers in Spain are required to recognise the certificates as valid proof of course completion.

A host of similar programmes are coordinated at the local level every year. Since 2008, eleven educational courses have been organised by the occupational and professional training services of the Formentera Council. The intended public of the courses is broad, ranging from daycare and youth workers, elderly care professionals and restaurant staff. Courses handle a host of different topics; one recent offering proposed basic first aid education.

Formentera's councillor of social welfare, Dolores Tamargo, confirmed that “these programmes are critical to ensuring Formenterencs are competitive in the job market. Formentera residents – for reasons of geography – are much less likely to have access to training programmes. That's why the Council's coordination of these programmes is so important.”
