The expansion of the nursery results in the incorporation of 49 seats

Instal·lacions de l'escoletaThis afternoon took place the inauguration of the new  classrooms at the nursery "Sa Miranda", by the consellera for Education Sonia Cardona, the president of the Consell of Formentera, Jaume Ferrer and the education officer of Ibiza and Formentera, Laura Carrascosa. Also attended by the opposition parties, the deputy for Formentera, Josep Mayans and the representatives of the Associations of Parents of Students of all schools in Formentera, to visit the new facilities.
The expansion works of the school have led to the incorporation of 49 children over the previous year, from 38 students to 87, between 1 and 3 years old in the school for the year 2010/2011. Finally, the configuration with polyvalent spaces allowed more families to support, with the creation of larger groups (a group of 9 children aged 0-1 year, 2 groups of 12 children between 1-2 years and 3 groups of 18 children between 2-3 years).
Sa Miranda is a center dependent of the Consell of Formentera and meets all the requirements necessaries to function as a center for childhood education. The expansion of this infrastructure has involved the construction of another building, which includes two classroom buildings of 2-3 years and 1-2 years classrooms and general services of the nursery.
Thus, the new educational equipment is an extension of 495 m2, divided into 3 classrooms, a lounge area, a staff room and other multipurpose spaces. These spaces are close to the playground and the classrooms where they develop common activities of the center, where parents can see the different work done by their children.
Sa Miranda EIP currently has 9 teachers and during the first two weeks, parents will participate in activities to promote the integration of children.
The Balearic government has verified the distribution of adequate spaces and the professionals needed to meet the educational purpose of the center. Has also verified the suitability of the requirements for certification and accreditation of education professionals, so it is guaranteed the quality of teaching.
The aim is to adapt the curriculum in two lines in response to population growth and the demand generated from the public. This increase represents a slight redistribution of the existing space in the nursery, adapting to new needs of individuals.
The Consell of Formentera is heavily involved in the adaptation of facilities and children's educational activities to the existing social reality in Formentera, with plenty of activities organized in collaboration with the Institute of Early Childhood. It also forms part of the Network of Public Schools in the Balearic Islands, which represents many advantages for the management of kindergartens.
The government team of the Consell de Formentera has stressed the importance of investing in education and was pleased to meet one of the priorities of the legislature. Also, the future construction of school at two lines in the town of Sant Ferran, will fill this lack of existing child seats today in Formentera.
The period of performance of the work has been 10 months and it's developed by the company Ferrovial-Agroman, which has had a budget of EUR 781,906.10 paid by the Consell of Formentera with the contribution of € 222,000.00, taxes included by the Govern Balear.
