foto festivalito-tango-2018The Formentera Council's culture office reports that Wednesday September 5 to Wednesday the 12th, Formentera will host its Festivalito de tango as it returns for a fourth year on the island. The event includes milongas, concerts and live performances from experienced, world-class dancers.

El Festivalito
El Festivalito started out as a group of intensive courses organised by Jackie Katz, a resident of Formentera, and Francisco Leiva, the director of an important tango school in Paris,

Formentera resident Jackie Katz and Francisco Leiva, director of an important tango school in Paris, say El Festivalito began as a way to turn islanders on to the world of tango, including associated dance events known as milongas, and what they assert is one of the most beautiful parts of the whole experience: sharing space on the floor with dancers from other cultures and countries.

Specifics
Every night tango students will be split into two groups: beginners and intermediate/advanced. A rotating array of restaurants serve as the backdrop for the daily run of activities. Thereafter, all eyes will be on the dancefloor and the milongas—showcases for the festival's participants.

Tango show
As a coda to the festival, on Tuesday and Wednesday (September 10 and 11) from 10 p.m. at the cinema, islanders have the chance to see a one-of-a-kind show featuring all the artists involved in the festival.

Advance tickets are available on the festival's website or directly at the box office. Formentera residents are eligible for a four-euro reduction in the ticket price.
