Telefònica company delays opening of Sant Ferran bypass road

postetelefonica web

The opening of the Sant Ferran bypass road to traffic, anticipated for the beginning of May, will be held back for lack of an exact date scheduled in the removal of telephone lines by the Telefònica company.

Although construction is totally finished, a telephone pole in middle of the left lane of traffic in the direction of Es Pujols currently obstructs passage at the turn-off to el camí de ses Vinyes. This in addition to the transport lines that cross the road at several points with very low clearance.

The burying of these obstructions has been planned for since the beginning of construction and is ratified by an accord by which the Formentera Council oversees the civil engineering work and Telefònica the moving of the affected telephone lines.

Delays in the delivery of necessary material for this portion of the project are having an extremely negative impact on the successful completion of the ring road project before the start of the tourist season.

Currently the Island Council lacks an exact date for the opening of the bypass road and, consequently, for the urban restructuring of Sant Ferran town centre traffic that is set to follow, a point of great concern for the Council.
