Qualifying youth athletes from Germany and Spain will join in on judo course in 33rd year

judo stageThis morning in the plenary hall of the Formentera Council, sports councillor Sergio Jiménez was joined by Eugenio de la Dueña, the local delegate to the Federació Balear de Judo and Josep Verdera, president of the Club Dojo Formentera, as details were announced regarding the 33rd year of activities for the Stage Internacional de Judo de Formentera, a five-day course organised by José Ignacio Bueno, national university scout and eighth degree black belt.

From this Thursday 2 April at six in the evening, when opening ceremonies set things in motion, through Sunday (5 April), the event is expected to bring between 200 and 250 youth to the Antoni Blanc Sports Centre to compete, train and expand their general knowledge of the popular martial art. As Josep Verdera pointed out: “This year qualifying athletes in women's youth categories won't be limited to the Balearics – participants will hail from as far off as the peninsula and Germany. The change is sure to mean a new level of professionalism, and we're more than ready”.
