Swing music festival slides into Formentera for the weekend

lindyhopThe buzz surrounding last weekend's Formentera Jazz Festival has begun to subside, but the music continues. Not only have the Jazz a la plaça concerts reclaimed their spot on the weekly agenda, this Saturday 13 June at ten p.m. islanders will see a new genre getting in on the excitement: swing music.

This coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday (12-14 June), the plazas of the island will struggle to contain the rocking dance steps and swinging rhythms of the Formentera Summer Swing Festival, with promising live performances from the Prickly Pear Quartet and DJ Sing Sing Sing.

June 12th, the concert and dancing begin eleven p.m. at the Sant Francesc Xavier town square. On the 13th, the epicentre of the festival shifts to the square in Sant Ferran, with music kicking off at the stroke of midnight. Finally, Sunday the 14th, dance-lovers are invited to the legendary Migjorn beach bar and restaurant Blue Bar, where swing music will ring out loud from eight p.m.

Both a promising night-out for the standard weekend crowds and a fantastic opportunity for all those who took park in Carles Oliver's February-May swing and lindy hop course to fine tune their technique. All of the festival performances are completely free and open to music- and dance-lovers alike.
