Tucked into the inner courtyard of the school in Sant Ferran de Ses Roques is the Bob Baldon park, a play area for children that, from today, the Formentera Council's office of infrastructure will open to the public. Park visitors are welcome in the afternoon seven days a week from four to nine p.m., and there is an even more extensive timetable on weekends, when park doors will open at ten a.m.
Response to local demand
News of the opening was announced today by Councillor Rafael González, CiF head of infrastructure, who added: “The administration is sensitive to the requests of Sant Ferran residents”. González noted that, together with the school's on-site library, the play and sports areas stayed open afternoons over the length of the school year but “had been closed to the public since the end of term”.
“The CiF (Consell Insular de Formentera) will see to it regular maintenance is carried out and that the space is kept in working order,” promised the councillor. He also ensured that personnel would be assigned the task of opening and closing the location daily. The initiative—which provides children and families in Formentera a space to exercise, play and engage in physical activity seven days a week—had the additional help of the Council's office of education as well as the Sant Ferran school administration and the school's Consell escolar.
