The Formentera youth office reports it is offering an advisory service to workers at the Escola d’Estiu summer camp programme.
The service aims to promote teamwork strategies and offer counsellors tools to identify their emotions and camp participants’ as well as improve communication with participants and their families. Expertise in both areas has taken on added significance in the context of the covid-19 pandemic.
“Professional support is a key part of helping Escola d’Estiu staff and directors tackle the challenge they face in 2020”, said youth consellera Vanessa Parellada, “not to mention guidance so they can work through doubts stemming from the current situation”.
“Children get their first idea of what to expect in school from Escola d’Estiu counsellors”, Parellada continued, “so these workers need support dealing with the anxiety that current unusual circumstances can trigger. It is crucial that counsellors’ interactions with children be rooted in cool-headedness and naturalness”.
The service is offered by CEPCA director Belén Alvite. Two face-to-face sessions have already taken place, with more to follow, including an online option, in the weeks ahead.
