Islanders at Day Centre help combat underage drinking

foto 2021 centre dia no t ofeguisA group of individuals receiving care at the Formentera Day Centre donned T-shirts emblazoned with the message ‘Don’t drown in alcohol’ to help drive home the importance of preventing alcohol consumption among underage islanders. The push is backed by the Formentera Office of Social Welfare and aims to delay the start of alcohol consumption among islanders, or prevent it outright, as well as combat the illegal sale of alcoholic beverages. ‘Don’t drown in alcohol’ launched last May and will continue this winter with new awareness-building actions. To achieve the initiative’s objectives and educate young people and business owners about putting a stop to underage drinking, additional collaboration has come from other areas of the island’s government, law enforcement, businesses, SMEs, schools, local families and sports clubs.
