The Consell de Formentera has begun steps to hire health care assistants to staff the island's nursing home. Details about the positions can be found on the Consell de Formentera website and offers are open until 8 December.

Candidates must be accredited nursing assistants, have completed intermediate social-health care training or an equivalent vocational programme, or hold specialised or professional certification in any of the these areas.

Work at the old people's home, or residència, will include tending to basic personal hygiene, common care needs and the material needs of each user, and feeding, as needed.

Today Ana Juan, president of the Consell de Formentera, and Daisee Aguilera, president of Cosmitos Sports Club, Daisee Aguilera, signed an agreement to develop, coordinate and dynamise the Cosmitos school in 2022. This is the first agreement the Consell signs with the women's futsal club, and it will unlock €7,000 to cover part of the club's expenses tied to performing and promoting sport and fostering sports-related values. Paula Ferrer, councillor of sports, was also present at the signing. Aguilera asserted that this agreement "will allow us to continue operating the school, training our technical staff and promoting values related to sport here on the island".

The human resources office of the Consell de Formentera is pleased to report that negotiations with local unions have led to an agreement to progressively implement a professional status for the positions of municipal employees, and a roadmap through 2026 for implementation of the change. The professional status in municipal positions will apply to employee wages starting this November. Eligible workers' wages will be adjusted to reflect wages of comparable professionals, increasing by 20% of the total difference in 2022, and 55% in 2023, 70% in 2024, 85% in 2025 and 100% in 2026.

Paula Ferrer, councillor of human resources, cast today's approval as "very good news" and "a crucial milestone": "After lengthy work with the unions, we are fulfilling a commitment with Consell workers".

Affording professional status to an employee's post gives workers the possibility to progress, acts as a motivator that gives the public administration a source of professionals with more training and knowledge of their job, and improves the service received by citizens, which is the main objective of government.

Individuals interested in formalising the professional nature of their position must submit the necessary documentation by 30 November. Submissions are being accepted at the OAC and online on the OVAC (the form is available in the human resources section of www.consellinsulardeformentera.cat).

1.5% wage increase to offset inflation
The human resources office additionally reports that during the month of November an increase of 1.5% will be applied to workers' wages. The increase will be retroactive to January to mitigate the effects of inflation. In so doing, the Consell de Formentera makes effective the increase announced by the Ministry of Finance and the Balearic Government after the union-backed agreement.

The Formentera Office of Sports, with collaboration from sports clubs on the island, has put together a Sports Day (Diada Esportiva) with activities at Antoni Blanc fitness centre, IES Marc Ferrer gymnasium and the municipal swimming pool, football pitch and tennis courts. The Diada is part of the local programme of activities to celebrate Children's Month.
