Culture area of Formentera Island Council announces the Beni Trutmann Photography Contest in order to acquire a commitment to nature and environmental protection. With this annual photography contest that bears his name, Formentera Island Council, aims to keep the memory alive. Those who choose to be submitted to this contest are facing the challenge of approaching the work and example taht Beni Trutmann left to future generations.

Biography:
Werner Karl Thomas Trutmann, known by all with the name of Beni, was born on November 26, 1935 in Locarno, Switzerland. He studied at the School of Arts in Zurich, where he revealed his passion for photography. At 22 he traveled to Paris to work as assistant to the photographer Harry Meerson, and two years later become independent as a professional photographer. Visited Formentera in 1958, where he discovered a passion of his life.
We can divide his career into two periods: the era of advertising, which from 1965 to 1984, period of maturity and humanism, between 1985 and 1995.

Beni Trutmann and Formentera:
Madly in love with this island, the city feels, he continued to photograph for 44 years leaving a legacy of more than 30,000 photographs. To him it was important to preserve cultural heritage for future generations, was concerned about urban change, so he put his talents to the GOB environmental association. His photographic works supported the exhibition "Beauty and the destruction of an island" organized in Formentera.
Werner Karl died at home in her Mola on 28 April 2002.

The department of Culture in collaboration with the International Friends of the Library Association of Formentera calls this award to encourage work and promote visual arts to promote reading habit among children of Formentera.

Biography:
Antoni Tur Costa, known as "Gabrielet" was born in Santa Eulalia del Rio (Ibiza) in 1917. He installs in Formentera in 1961, with 44 years, where he conducted most of his work and where he achieved his greatest recognition as a potter, although he also worked on modeling and drawing.

"Gabrielet" and Formentera:
The recognition of "Gabrielet" gave his workshop in the Craft Fair of the Mola, setting forth their wares, which they drank from Mediterranean sources (sea, sky, fishing, roosters, lizards, goats).

His death took place in Ibiza on 23 April 1998, at age 82. In 1997 it was declared by the City illustrious son of Formentera.

The department of Culture in collaboration with the Friends of the International Library Association of Formentera announces the award as part of the festival of Sant Jordi, 23 April, to encourage work of literary creation and encouraging the reading habit among the child population of Formentera. The writings, every year deal with a different theme drawing actual social and environmental topics.

Biography:
American architect, Robert Lewis Baldon, popularly known as Bob Baldon came to Formentera to recover from a serious motorcycle accident. At home, since 1967 began to collect books and books that everyone could see. First it was called the "House of Books." Then this space became the International Library of Formentera. Anyone who wanted to read books of different languages in Formentera had here its small, and apparently disordered eating. Famous people such as Nina Hagen, Bob Dylan, Chis Rea, Pete Sinfield (King Crimson) visited this library.

Robert Baldon and Formentera:

Bob Baldon gave this background to the City of Formentera before his death. These 27,000 books published in a dozen languages that had been stored for years, are publicly available at the Marià Villangómez library as an international background for readers from the island since 2008.
