The Formentera Council office of culture announces that at 6.00pm on Saturday December 29, the local cinema (Sala de Cultura) will host Minúcia theatre company's family-friendly Tatanka. Admission to the hour-long show is three euros.
Mostra d'Espectacles Infantils
Tatanka is the opening act of Formentera's twelfth “Children's Theatre Festival” (Mostra d'Espectacles Infantils), set to conclude January 20. The Mostra is put together by the promoter of children's and youth theatre initiatives in the Balearics, Sa Xerxa, and the Formentera Council, with additional support provided by Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics and Trasmapi. The show is likewise included under the umbrella of the Council's L'Illa a Escena theatre series.
Culture councillor Susana Labrador described the goal behind hosting productions like Tatanka and broader initiatives like the Mostra as “getting families to the theatre and bolstering the island's winter and holiday offering of cultural fare”.

Directed by Montse Bonet and featuring the acting of Anselm Serra and Jordi Pérez, Tatanka offers a sampling of North American indian culture and civilisation. In that regard, Bonet describes the goal as “showing audiences other ways of speaking, eating and relating to others”.
The Formentera Council's “Language Advisory Service” (Servei d'Assessorament Lingüístic) released its yearly calendar: a coil-spring for the office's latest educational campaign about language.
The Formentera Council's culture and festivities office reports from 5.30pm on Thursday December 20, the Sant Ferran festival tent will be the scene of a children's party and a visit from Pare Noel, aka Father Christmas. Young ones will be treated to entertainment by Piruleto and be able to entrust old Saint Nick with their holiday wish lists. Adults and kids alike will be able to try hot chocolate and sweet coca bread, both gluten- and lactose-free.
The Formentera Council culture and education office wishes to announce the operating hours at Biblioteca Marià Villangómez and Sant Ferran's library connection, or punt de lectura, for this Christmas season.
Friday from 7 pm in Sant Ferran's plaça Guillem de Montgrí, the primary-school children of CEIP El Pilar in la Mola and Mestre Lluís Andreu in Sant Francesc will join the Formentera municipal band in putting on a Christmas concert. After a selection of holiday carols dubbed “Cantam Nadales”, or “We sing Christmas carols”, performers and onlookers alike are invited to hot chocolate and coca dolça fit for those with gluten and lactose intolerances.
