Natural treatment to curb mosquitoes and chironomids in Ses Salines wetlands starts today

The Formentera Office of Environment, reports that from today, Tragsa agents will pilot 32 days of fumigation operations in wetland areas of Ses Salines Nature Reserve that will end in late October.

Operations will include areas of freshwater where mosquito and chironomid larvae develop near Estany Pudent, Estany des Peix and the Marroig salt marshes. The natural treatment employs Bacillus thuringiensis Israeliensis, which acts specifically on the larvae of these insects.
