Tenor Joan Laínez and pianist Francesc Blanco in concert

The Formentera Office of Culture is pleased to report that Wednesday 24 August from 10.00pm, Jardí de ses Eres in Sant Francesc will be the scene of a concert by tenor Joan Laínez and pianist Francesc Blanco.

The two Mallorca natives will present a wide-ranging repertoire spanning Verdi, Puccini, Agustín Lara, Matilde Escalas and more. The artists will also premiere T'he buscat dins l'obscuritat, a piece which was composed by Mallorca-born Xavier Gelabert with lyrics by Formentera's own Maria Ferrer.

Laínez is an opera soloist at Teatre Principal de Palma and, in 2021, came in second at the international competition Corsica Lírica. He is also the winner of the In Opera Veritas award and, in 2022, earned the audience choice award at the Jole di Maria competition in Tivoli. As a choral conductor, Laínez has conducted various national and international concerts.

Francesc Blanco has worked with singers such as Ainhoa Arteta, Montserrat Martí i Caballé, Ketevan Kemklidze and more. Since 1996, he has been a singing accompaniment teacher at Mallorca's Professional Conservatory of Music.

This concert is part of the fourth MallorcÒpera Festival.
